Marinela Dimitrova is a young, talented and successful designer who stands behind the fashion brand Mardi. It produces remarkable, unique, and elegant clothing for women – a must have in every woman’s wardrobe.
Born into a family with a long tradition of textiles and sewing, as a child, Marinela had the opportunity to closely follow and familiarise herself with the process of making clothes by spending the majority of her time in the family’s factory.
Her curiosity served as motivation to learn how a plain material can be transformed into a glamorous dress, classy swimsuit or a modern jumper. Growing up surrounded by parents who kept pace with fashion trends, Marinela built an elegant and sophisticated style, which she would later apply as a distinctive stamp on her first creations. At the age of 16, she created her first dress, a combination of delicate materials with bright colours.
Marinela will say that as a child she found inspiration in everything that surrounded her, but mostly from traveling with her parents. Since, as an ambitious designer, she has had the golden opportunity to learn about different cultures and fashion styles.
Apart from her commitment to study in high school, her most frequent destination after class was always the Mardi factory, where Marinela continued to perfect the process of drawing, cutting and sewing.
During that time, Marinela would step out of her comfort zone, exploring how to make a unique piece for someone. Her friends would be her first models, on which Marinela perfected her skill set for taking measurements, sewing in different sizes and combining several materials into one.
For the final step, she would perfect the process with numerous adjustments until achieving the finished product. Marinela put her design dream on hold when enrolling in the Faculty of Business and Management. After completing her studies and emerging as a mature and independent woman, she finally decided to pursue her dream. Thus, beginning the demanding and meticulous process of building her business. Thinking out of the box to formulate varying strategies resulted in the unique brand Mardi being born. Marinela, identifiable as the designer of the elegant and bold style we see today.
